2 Years..... exactly!

In January 2011, we began this journey.... with paperwork, lots of paperwork. We had no idea what being a missionary looked like, we had only met them when they visited our church. We didn't know any missionaries.... all we knew was that God had called us to missions. we didn't know where, what, why, or how.

So when our senior pastor at the time connected us with missionaries from Austria, we were starstruck. We figured that we could start slow, maybe spend the summer in Austria. We would have our jobs and our families to come back too. So you could imagine our reaction when she suggested spending TWO YEARS on the missions field. God had called us, we knew He had equipped us, and we knew He would provide for us.... so we said "Let's do this!"
After a year of Emailing, visiting people and pastors, creating graphics, learning German, ordering bookmarks and even an Austrian flag, God led us away from Austria and introduced us to another set of missionaries on an island, Steve and Dawn Robertson.

To be very honest, we had NEVER heard of the Canary Islands. We never even knew Spain had any islands. It took us about a week to refocus and pray about this change but God knew what He was doing. We had our first Skype session with Steve and Dawn, Briana and her new little puppy and it was as if we were talking to friends we had known forever.

So it took another year of raising money and working on our visas before we actually got to meet, in person, the Robertson's in the new country we would soon call home.
It seems like just yesterday but then it seems like it's been forever. Two years goes by very quick. More then anything, we believe that this experience has change us more then the people around us.
