This month was a very eventful month for us. Right after Resurrection Sunday, we went straight into planning for the next month's events. We had 4 new moms here at CLIC and so we decided to have a Baby Shower the day before Spain celebrates Mother's Day (May 3rd). Here in Spain, Baby Showers are not very common, but because we are an international church, we enjoy combining different cultures to celebrate different things in various ways. We see this as more than just a party, but it is a time for the church, as a family, to celebrate and to bless the soon to be mothers. Babies are expensive and we believe it is important to remind the mothers that they are not alone. Many of the families in the church live here without close relatives, the people that would normally play such large parts in helping with babies and children. We take advantage of a, not traditionally Spanish custom, to bless and to encourage these mothers. Here in Spain, they celebrate Mother's Day a week before it is celebrated in the United States. Fun Fact: Spain is one of the only a few countries that celebrate Mother's Day on the first Sunday of May. We had many Filipinos celebrating Mother's Day the same day as the United States. Here are some pictures from this month's activities... Also this month we were able to design the stage area, we also created the gifts for the baby shower, the gifts for Mother's Day, relaunch the new youth Logo, relaunch the new SuperIglesia (Kid's Church) Logo, announce a large island wide prayer march, a few pastor's meetings, and begin preparing for a new series we are doing on the book of Jonah.... Phew.
God is so good and each day He continues to astound us. People are growing in Christ, Lives are being changed, people are finding their place in ministry, all because God is doing His work here in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and because of the constant love and support from all of you!
